The Royal Deck

Artist's impression of the Royal Deck

The Royal Yacht Britannia Trust are delighted to announce that Britannia’s Royal Deck is being brought back into use as a stunning new room for dinners and receptions to complement those currently hosted in the State Apartments. This room will enhance the range and size of events that Britannia can host on board.

Traditionally, the Royal Deck, one of the highest decks on board, would be covered with an awning and used by The Royal Family for cocktail parties, receptions and deck games. From winter 2008 the historic appearance of the Royal Deck will be replicated with an awning style roof, glass walls and original teak deck. The quality of the finish throughout will be in keeping with the very highest standards already set by The Royal Yacht Britannia.

Stunning receptions and dinners are already held in the State Drawing Room and Dining Room on board. Seating up to 80 for dinner, the Royal Deck can be used on its own or when combined with the State Apartments will bring the dining capacity up to 176 and receptions up to 380. The room will also extend the after-dinner entertainment opportunities, with the exciting potential for jazz and swing bands or ceilidhs.

Britannia is owned by self-funded, registered charity The Royal Yacht Britannia Trust. All proceeds are reinvested in the Royal Yacht’s long-term maintenance and the development of the Royal Deck will further ensure the future of this ship of such historical importance.
